This guest post was originally published on the Princess & The Pram blog and describes how useful the Hailo app is proving for new London mums.
The Passenger Blog
Since our launch last November, over a hundred thousand Londoners have grown to love the ease and simplicity of Hailo. Just two taps on the app is all it takes to confirm a licensed London black cabbie who will arrive with nothing on the meter, wait outside for up to 5 minutes at and accept card payments - all at no added cost above the meter. But for Hailo to work well for everyone, we rely on everyone keeping their commitments.
While Hailo's instant email receipts are one of our most loved features, many of our passengers have requested that we add a history of their journeys in the app itself. Now you can. In the latest version of Hailo you can organise your trips between Personal and Business, see your unique Job Reference and even report lost property - all within the app.
At Hailo, our drivers have returned a stunning amount of property in the months since we launched. In fact, it is one of our Customer Service Team's favourite things to do and they have reunited passengers with more smartphones, laptops, keys, wallets, sunglasses, suitcases, umbrellas and jewelry boxes (seriously) than you might believe. But that hasn't been down to luck.
Back in 2010, before Hailo driver co-founders Gary, Terry and Russ had teamed up with their techie counterparts at Hailo, they had been working on different technology projects to support the black cab trade. The guys had been searching for funding from different sources in order to expand the Taxi Light concept and one place they tried was the BBC programme Dragons' Den.
At Hailo, we're always exploring new ways to help get the word out. This means that we're happy to try non-traditional means of promoting the quality of our app and driver community. This week, that opportunistic spirit took the form of a 'Cabbie Cake' for the BBC Sport team at Lords, and we've since learned to never underestimate the power of a good dessert.
